DESCRIPTION: French lyre form mantel clock, spring powered eight day time and strike movement, visible gilt brass gridiron pendulum with acanthus and swan decoration suspended above the movement, Roman numeral dial with painted figures, the case veneered in good quality figured mahogany, decorated with classically themed gilt bronze mounts, including anthemion, scrolls, overflowing cornucopia, laurel, parsley and waterleaf, c1825
CONDITION: Mahogany case with good older finish, a few minor veneer flakes, gilt brass ornament in excellent condition with minimal loss, lyre strings with loss to gilding and minor touch up, repair to left ornamental "tuning key" rod, original movement with power to the escapement and strike train, dial with repainted figures on original gilding, hour hand repaired, minute hand replaced.
